Peer mentors are often integral to the success of federally funded TRiO programs (such as Student Support Services) and of orientation and support programs for first-year students and students in transition.
Developing a mentor training program to prepare undergraduate mentors to work with their peers can be an overwhelming process without adequate tools and support. CRLA’s International Mentor Training Program Certification (IMTPC) offers college and university mentor programs the resources necessary to develop new mentor training programs, to revise and improve existing programs, or to document an existing successful mentor training program that meets CRLA mentor training requirements.

The new IMTPC application features no new requirements; however, the format and length have significantly changed. Programs can be certified by ITTPC, IMTPC or both. Certified ITTPC tutors taking IMTPC mentor training have already completed the first ten hours of their minimum 15 hours of certified training for Level I. See IMTPC for more information. |
